Position Summary |
Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is the major provider of specialist health services in the Gippsland region, east of Melbourne. Our comprehensive range of services extends to emergency and intensive care, elective surgery, allied health, obstetrics, medical and radiation oncology at the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre, dialysis and aged care.
LRH has a number of outstanding facilities following a recent expansion. These include a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, large Emergency Department, endoscopy suites and modern and contemporary inpatient units. These complement extensive Allied Health amenities including a gym and pool.
LRH is the regional provider of mental health services in Gippsland. LRH Mental Health Service operates an integrated specialist mental health program across the region and provides inpatient and community mental health care for adults, children and young people and older persons.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Librarian to join the Library team at Latrobe Regional Hospital on a part time ongoing basis.
Reporting to the Library Manager the successful applicant will play an important role in the hospital library.
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Be responsible for managing library operation in daily basis;
- Provide person-centred information services to clients at any reference points;
- Support the Hospital's research endeavours through the provision of high quality information services and searching consultations;
- Provide Interlibrary loans and document delivery;
- Provide Information and digital Literacy training;
- Support library technical service, collection development and maintenance; and
- Be responsible for library projects and clerical duties.
To be successful in this position you will need to have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification accredited for eligibility for professional membership of ALIA;
- Demonstrated the ability to deliver the person-centred information services and support the education, training and research;
- Demonstrated high level of initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and interact effectively with culturally diverse clientele and in a team environment ;
- Commitment of participating in Staff Training and Professional Development; and
- Current Driver's Licence.

Essential: Relevant tertiary qualification accredited for eligibility for professional membership of Australian Library and Information Association Essential: Experience in searching online bibliographic databases and grey literature, such as MedLine, PubMed, CINAHL, PsycInfo, Embase and Cochrane Library. Essential: Experience in using Library management system, assisting acquisition and cataloguing, and collection development Essential: Demonstrated the ability of provide document delivery and interlibrary services and assist clients to access appropriate resources Essential: Experience in providing information education and research skills training to the library users and researchers Essential: Demonstrated the ability to deliver the person-centred information service at different reference points, support users in using the library facilities in a timely manner and promote the positive image of the organisation and library service. Essential: Demonstrate high level of initiative, excellent interpersonal skills, good written and verbal communication skills and interact effectively with culturally diverse clientele in a team environment. Essential: Demonstrated the ability of prioritising, analysing, problem solving, and excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines.
