Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is a 289 bed hospital and is the largest regional hospital in Gippsland providing a comprehensive range of health care services including acute, sub-acute, ambulatory care, aged and mental health care services along with community based mental health services.
We are currently seeking an Unaccredited Paediatric Registrar to join our paediatric team consisting of 5 Paediatric Consultants, 3 Advanced Paediatric Trainees and a junior team providing 24-hour on-site paediatric cover.
The Latrobe Regional Hospital Paediatric Unit has a 10-bed inpatient unit and a 6-bed Special Care Nursery treating infants down to 32 weeks gestation. Funding has been provided by the State Government to construct a new Special Care Nursery with the ability to care for up to 12 infants. A new Emergency Department with a dedicated paediatric treatment area is now open.
Visiting tertiary paediatric specialist clinics include Paediatric Surgery, Endocrinology, Cardiology and Genetics.
There are approximately 1700 paediatric admissions and 900 deliveries a year with over 400 admissions and referrals to the Special Care Nursery (SCN).
All five consultant paediatricians have special interests in different areas including Neonatology, Behavioural medicine, Endocrinology, Emergency paediatrics, oncology and pain medicine.
The successful applicant will have experience working in a Special Care Nursery including skills in basic neonatal resuscitation and will hold general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
